Turki Alalshikh and world-famous MMA promoter Dana White have changed the world of boxing forever. Saudi Arabia’s Turki Alalshikh has announced the deal to come up with a boxing league.
It is a partnership between the Saudi General Entertainment Authority and the TKO Group. Not to forget that TKO Group owns WWE and UFC. Several media reports were saying in 2024 that boxing would be the third sport TKO wanted to enter.
Alalshikh said: “I give the flag of boxing to the best man (Dana White) who can handle it.”
The update has raised questions for the future of big promotions like Matchroom, Queensberry, Top Rank and PBC.
The fight would have some different ideas, with a league-style format.
Not to forget that Alalshikh did buy Ring Magazine in 2024. It can also end great belts of boxing as they can come with their new belt too, or use the Ring Belt for calling as a champion.
For boxers, it can create many chances. However, it can fail too as boxing is being seen as a very open-ended sport.
Alalshikh, since Sep 2023, has made some of the best boxing events with Matchroom, Golden Boy, Queensberry, Top Rank and PBC.
So if they pull the fighters back, it can be a major problem for the TKO.
