Mamadou Sarr has made a move to Chelsea from Strasbourg for a deal worth £12m. He is now eligible to play at the much-anticipated FIFA Club World Cup this month.
Sarr, who is a tall 6 feet 4 inches defender, has signed a deal for eight years. Against Los Angeles FC, Chelsea will start their Club World Cup campaign on June 16.
Strasbourg did agree with Chelsea for Sarr deal in the 2025 winter transfer market, with a potential arrival in the summer.
Strasbourg, after finishing seventh in Ligue 1 last season, played 28 times in the domestic league. Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital are the owners of both clubs. Hence, the deal did not make it that hard to come true.
Liam Delap, Estevao and Dario Essugo have already joined the club this summer, making Sarr the fourth signing.
Chelsea have become one of the active clubs that have done a decent amount of business at the early leg of the 2025 summer transfer market.
