Real Madrid won their first 2025 FIFA World Cup game, beating Mexican side Pachuca 3-1 at Bank of America Stadium.
It was a crucial game for Xavi Alonso’s side to win after playing a 1-1 draw with Al-Hilal in their competition’s opener.
Bellingham, who scored 10-man Real’s opening goal against Pachuca, wants surgery after the tournament. The England international has been battling with a shoulder injury since 2023.
Having confirmed of not facing too much pain, Bellingham does not want to take risk and utilize the break after the CWC.
He said: “I’ve reached the point where the pain isn’t so bad, but I was sick of playing with the sling.”
“I’m losing a lot of weight from sweating so much, and I’ve decided that I’ll have surgery after the tournament. I’ve been waiting for a long time, and my patience is running out, but the physios and doctors have been incredible. I just want to feel free.”
The victory over the Mexican giants is huge for Real as Raul Asencio faced a red card in the 7th minute.
Despite playing for 83 minutes without a player, Real have collated three crucial points for keeping their last-16 aim active.
Bellingham is an important player for Real and England. Hence, a fully fit player is something manager Alonso might love.
