Carlos Alcaraz defeated Jannik Sinner 4-6, 7-6, 4-6, 7.6, 7-6 to win the 2025 French Open title on Sunday (8 June).
Alcaraz won his second French Open title, having won the first in 2024. Spain’s new tennis star is carrying the legacy of Rafael Nadal forward, who has won this title a record 14 times.
This is Alcaraz’s first major of 2025, having reached the quarters of the season opener Australian Open. Despite being 22 years old, Alcaraz has won five majors.
He has become one of the most consistent tennis stars of the modern era. Other than the Aus Open, he has won all the majors at least once.
Tennis great Mats Wilander told TNT Sports: “Federer and Nadal played a couple of good finals, but nothing comes close to this.”
It was not an easy win for Alcaraz as Sinner gave him a hard time, winning titles with ease. Every round, Alcaraz won with a 7-6 margin. But he won two rounds out of five with a 6-4 advantage.
