Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy felt sacking Ange Postecoglou was not an easy job. Postecoglou made Spurs win the Europa Legaue despite having an utterly poor 2024-25 season in the Premier Legaue.
A section of Spurs fans felt that winning the Europa Legaue might keep the former Celtic boss at the job. But Levy sacked him and appointed Thomas Frank.
Levy said: “I don’t regret appointing Ange, I’m very grateful to Ange. In his first season we finished fifth and in his second we were over the moon to win a trophy.”
“But we need to compete in all competitions, and we felt that we needed a change.
“Emotionally it was difficult but we feel that we’ve made the right decision for the club.”
Tottenham finished 17th in the PL last season. However, the 1-0 Europa League final victory over Manchester United made it a season to remember.
Before the UEL glory, Spurs’ last silverware was the 2008 EFL Cup. Postecoglou has become a legend for the North London side as they have not won many titles in the 21st century.
