Viktor Gyokeres seemed very close to joining Manchester United at the start of June 2025.
However, after knowing there is no gentleman’s agreement with Gyokeres and Sporting to let him go for around 67 million pounds, Arsenal and now Liverpool have made an entry to sign the Swedish striker.
Gyokeres had a season of his career (2024-25) at Sporting. He is being seen as one of the top 10 number nines in the world.
LFC’s entry could make it hard for Man United to get Gyokeres, as they are the English champions with a stable front three.
Gyokeres knows English football, having played for Swansea City and Coventry City. It was 2023 when he moved to Sporting from Brighton & Hove Albion.
As top football clubs are finding it hard to get a striker who is capable of scoring 20 or 20-plus goals in the domestic league season, Gyokeres and others are becoming too crucial indeed.
