For the first time, Sampdoria will play in Serie C. A famous Italian football club, established in 1946, have faced relation from Serie B in the 2024-25 season.
17 draws and 13 losses in 38 games have placed them 18th in the Serie B table this season. As a result, they will play in the third division of Italian football next season.
In 1990-91, they even won the top-flight league title. They are also the four-time Italian Cup winners, with the latest glory coming in the 1993-94 season.
However, for Sampdoria, being in the third division feels like West Ham United from England getting relegated from the Championship.
In 2023, Italian football legend Andrea Pirlo got the job as the club’s head coach. But he was not able to make them come back to the top-flight. However, in Oct 2025, he was replaced by Leonardo Semplici.
The fans of the club are utterly angry, showing their sadness by pelting stones.
