Former India batsman Navjot Singh Sidhu has made a statement that no other major greats of the game have made.

Sidhu, who is also a politician, says that Virat Kohli’s impact is bigger than his former teammate Sachin Tendulkar.

In five Champions Trophy games, Kohli scored 218 runs. He scored a century against Pakistan and a match-winning innings versus Australia last week.

After seeing Kohli’s major impact at the major ICC event, Sidhu said on Star Sports: “Virat Kohli is India’s biggest hero in the last 30-40 years. He is above Sachin Tendulkar. Virat is a role model and knows how to win matches. His pull shot, on-drive, and cover drive are a treat to watch. He showed us how to win in overseas countries.

“We started dominating in the away series under his captaincy. He played a part in developing fast bowlers, and the Indian team played with five genuine bowlers during his time as a skipper.”

Virat is the next best thing after Sachin as per many cricketers’ eyes in India, but Sidhu is the first one who placed him ahead of others.

However, Kohli is yet to retire from the ODI and Test. So in the coming years, his impact can be even better.
