Despite captain Rishabh Pant not being able to shine with the bat, adding only 15 runs in 15 deliveries, the Lucknow Super Giants managed to win their first game of the IPL 2025 season.
Mitchell Marsh took just 31 balls to score 52 runs. However, his opening partner Aiden Markram was able to add just one run.
Nicholas Pooran, who came to bat after Markram’s dismissal, hit the ground running. The 29-year-old power-hitter added 70 runs in 26 balls, which includes six powerful sixes.
Rishabh Pant lost a wicket after contributing 15 runs along with Ayush Badoni’s flop show, scoring just six runs, putting a little pressure on LSG.
However, David Miller and Abdul Samad remained not out and led the team to win the game by 5 wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
Lucknow chased the 191 total in just 16.1 overs.
Opener Travis Head started well for the home side. The Australian batsman added 47 runs in 28 balls. However, Ishan Kishan scored a golden duck and was not able to carry on his brilliant form in the second game of SRH’s IPL 2025 journey.
Lucknow, who have an injury-hit bowling lineup, got backing from Shardul Thakur taking four wickets for 34 runs in four overs.
It did lead SRH to score 190 runs at the cost of 9 wickets in 20 while batting first.
Lucknow, who lost their opening game against the Delhi Capitals by one wicket on Monday, won their first game of the season.
Hyderabad faced their first defeat of the IPL 2025 season, having beaten Rajasthan Royals by 44 runs on Sunday.
