Sir Jim Ratcliffe, after years of hard work, took over Manchester United in February 2024. He paid 27.7% stake for £1.25bn ($1.6bn). It has given him command at the club overall.
However, in the last 12 months, Sir Jim Ratcliffe net worth has come to £17.046bn from £23.519bn, as per Sunday Times Rich List.
It is a massive decline of £6.473bn. Earlier holding the fourth spot, he is now seventh on the UK’s 350 richest people list.
Since taking over United, Ratcliffe has raised ticket prices, cut jobs and refused to provide even basic facilities.
MU have indeed been missing several Champions Legaue qualifications in the last 12 years. However, they are still one of the richest clubs in sports.
Ratcliffe has a massive plan to build a new stadium worth £2bn (100,000-seater) next to Old Trafford, which he updated the fans on in March 2025.
Ratcliffe, who owns Ineos, has made it clear to the fans that any ups and downs in his giant firm will not impact the Red Devils.
New Zealand Rugby and Ineos had a sponsorship deal, which broke up to save the overall costs.
Meanwhile, United have a chance to win the Europa Legaue next week against Tottenham Hotspur in Bibalo to qualify for the UCL, which could lower the financial burden.
