Dayot Upamecano, who joined Bayern Munich in 2021, has played over 100 games for the mega German club and won three Bundesliga titles.
Being a consistent defender, the German champions are offering him a possible contract until 30 June 2030 (as per Sky Germany).
Upamecano was a centre-back that many European clubs wanted in 2021, but the French international joined Bayern from RB Leipzig.
The new contract is being offered because Upamecano’s current deal will last until the 2026 summer (June 30).
Upamecano has played 20 times in the 2024-25 Bundesliga season, scoring twice. Leaving the Champions League aside, he has won most major titles with Bayern.
The 26-year-old centre-back has played 30 times for France since making his debut in 2020. He was a part of France’s 2022 World Cup finals campaign, where they lost the title-winning match to Argentina.
He had represented France at U16, 17, 18, 19 and 21 levels. A contract extension means the former Red Bull Salzburg and FC Liefering will see his prime years in Germany.
