It was a shocking exit from the French Open 2025 for Iga Swiatek, who is a four-time winner of the very competition.
World number 1 Aryna Sabalenka outsmarted Swiatek 7-6, 4-6, 6-0 to set up the final with Coco Gauff on Saturday (7 June). In recent women’s singles tennis history, there is no better performer at the French Open than Swiatek.
She is a four-time winner – 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024. Other than the mega clay court event, her only other grand slam is the 2022 US Open.
The 24-year-old said: “I played some quality matches.”
“Now it’s probably not the best time to look at the wider perspective.
“Probably it wasn’t a bad tournament, but obviously not the result I wanted.”
Swiatek is known for outdoing most on the clay court. However, in 2025, her form seems to take a dip. Last year, the Olympics were in Paris.
On the Clay surface, she was considered the favourite to win gold. But the Polish tennis star settled for bronze.
