Unlike a massive 10-0 victory over Auckland City FC in their opening Club World Cup final, FC Bayern Munich earned a close 2-1 win over South American giants Boca Juniors at Hard Rock Stadium.

Harry Kane’s 18th-minute strike helped Bayern get a 1-0 lead. The Argentine giants returned stronger with Miguel Merentiel levelling the scoreline in the 66th minute.

The match appeared to be heading towards a draw, but Michael Olise’s 84th-minute strike made Bayern earn three points and qualify for the round of 16.

FCB have become the first team to reach the last-16 of the CWC.

The draw has helped Boca Juniors to get a chance to make it into the next round. Bayern beating Benfica next might make the job of Miguel Angel Russo’s side easy to handle.

The quality of football, that South Amrican clubs are showing against cash-rich European sides, is indicating hope good are the domestic football set up in South Amercia.
