Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp made his remarks over Trent Alexander-Arnold getting booed for leaving the club this summer.
Klopp, who finished his managerial chapter at LFC in the 2023-24 season, feels that Alexander-Arnold deserves respect for his contribution rather than booing him.
The England right-back let his contract expire first at Liverpool. As a result, he will be a free agent after June 2025.
It is mostly clear that his next destination is Real Madrid. During early May’s Premier League game, against Arsenal at home, Liverpool fans did start to boo substitute Alexander-Arnold.
But Kloop wants Liverpool supporters to treat him with respect on Sunday’s game against Crystal Palace at Anfield. After the game, the Reds will celebrate the PL title victory.
Alexander-Arnold has played a huge role in helping Liverpool win two Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2019. He has also helped LFC win other cup titles.
This is the key takeaway behind what Kloop wants Alexander-Arnold, who made his LFC debut in 2016, his former right-back, to be celebrated.
Klopp told Sky Sports: “I was surprised because it is not how we react as Liverpool fans.”
Kloop was Liverpool’s manager from 2015 to 2024. The German manager helped the Reds win the PL title in the 2019-20 season.
