Taiwo Awoniyi, who is the Nottingham Forest striker, has had the opening phase of his abdominal injury surgury done. As a result, he has been induced into a coma.
On Sunday, the 27-year-old striker met with the post in the 88th minute during their Premier League game against relegated Leicester City. Both teams shared a 2-2 draw.
He first had surgery on Monday, with another procedure happening on Wednesday. Forest made a statement on Tuesday, telling the Nigerian international recovering well.
Coming as a substitution for Ibrahim Sangare, Awoniyi did get a deep treatment on Sunday (on the pitch). Beofre Awoniyi’s collision, Elanga was already offside, but the official did not stop the game. This would have stopped the horrible incident from taking place.
It is because if there is a goal-scoring chance, the referee can’t stop the game and then the VAR takes over in case a goal gets scored.
Many experts feel that this rule puts players in a hard situation. But overall, the game becomes transparent.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, after the game, went onto the pitch and showed his disapproval on Awoniyi’s injury situation.
Marinakis has given orders to keep him in the loop about the player’s progress.
