Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola must be feeling happy with his team looking sharp, leaving the poor 2024-25 season behind.
City’s 6-0 victory over Al Ain has sent them to the last-16 of the FIFA Club World Cup. In this crucial game for the Sky Blues, Claudio Echeverri scored a goal in the 27th minute. It was his first full debut for the Citizens.
Man City signed Echeverri from River Plate in the 2024 winter transfer market. But he spent the 2024-25 season on loan at River Plate.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder is a part of the Argentina U23 squad. In the 21st century, City had seen Argentine players making a sound impact. Sergio Aguero, Pablo Zabaleta, Nicolas Otamendi, Carlos Tevez and Julian Alvarez are some of the leading names.
Pep said: “He’s an incredible player, a big, big talent in small spaces. I’m happy for him, because it was a great goal.”
Echeverri plays as an attacking midfielder and winger, giving Man City better options in the 2025-26 season.
