Cristiano Ronaldo 61st-minute goal played the biggest role in getting a 2-2 draw against Spain. In the Nations League final, Portugal and Spain could only score 2 goals each before taking the game to the penalties.

Nuno Mendes scored Portugal’s first goal in the opening 45 minutes. But a goal each from Martin Zubimendi and Mikel Oyarzabal made sure Spain ended the first half 2-1.

In this title-winning clash, Lamine Yamal was not able to shine at all.

As the game went to the penalties, Ronaldo’s side beat Spain 5-3 and won the competition for the record second time. Ahead of next year’s FIFA World Cup, it could be seen as a major boost.

Ronaldo said: “Winning for Portugal is always special. I have many titles with clubs, but nothing is better than winning for Portugal.

“It’s tears. It’s duty done and a lot of joy.”

Not to forget that CR7 is 40 years old. Despite being too old for an average footballer, he is still scoring at the highest level. In next year’s World Cup, the football great will be 41 years old.
