Rohit Sharma, who has just retired from Test cricket recently, has received a mega present from the Mumbai Cricket Association as they named a stand at the Wankhede Stadium after him.
The former India Test and T20I captain has joined Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Dilip Vengsarkar and Vijay Merchant on the list of players who have their names at the iconic stadium in Mumbai.
Rohit, in 2024, took retirement from T20I after leading India to glory in the West Indies. The fans can see him playing in the ODI format for India.
Rohit said on his Instagram handle: “A great feeling that can’t expressed in words because it will very unfair to what I am feeling right now. Exactly where I am standing right now, behind this stand, is the railway track. I remember those days, and just to get a glimpse of the stadium back in the day was such a special feeling, and then I came inside the Wankhede Stadium; that was a special feeling for me.”
Rohit is a modern cricket great and is named as one of the finest to ever come from India.
His cricket journey as a Team India player started in 2007. He is the only two-time T20 World Cup winner from India (as a player).
