After beating Newcastle United 1-0 at home in the Premier Legaue on Sunday, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta felt displeased with seeing yet another title-less season.
Arteta, who became Arsenal manager in 2019, won the FA Cup in his first season. But since then, he has not been able to win anything.
They are indeed consistent in making it into the Champions Legaue system. However, finishing second or third in the domestic league table many times and not winning any cups made them feel dissatisfied.
In the 2024-25 season, the Gunners lost the PL title race to Liverpool. Early this month, they knocked out by Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 on aggregate in the UCL semis.
Even a club like Man United, which have been too poor in the last four to five seasons, were able to win the FA Cup in 2024 and are in the race to win the Europa League final this season.
In January, the PL title race was open to win for both Arsenal and Liverpool. However, the three-time PL winners did not sign a striker.
Many fans and pundits pointed out the problem, but Arsenal not getting the right person at the right time cost them major silverware.
He said: “Liverpool have a trophy – we don’t have a trophy.”
“We are unsatisfied and upset. But I think we are on the right trajectory.
“What I can promise is that I will do my very best [to win a trophy] and I will give my life, and get every drop of everybody here to squeeze it and get the best out of them.”
As Tottenham Hotspur are in this week’s Europa Legaue final, it has made things worse for the North London giants. For them, United winning the Europa Legaue is much better than seeing Spurs lift the title in a season where they are too poor in the domestic league.
