For Rahul Dravid, it was not an ideal comeback at the Rajasthan Royals. Last year, India’s great made his nation win the T20 World Cup as a head coach.
He left the high-profile job in the 2024 summer and joined RR, a team he had captained and coached before leading India (as a head coach).
RR became the first team in the IPL 2025 on Sunday to lose 10 games, winning just three. They are ninth in the table, only ahead of the Chennai Super Kings.
The 2008 IPL winners lost to the Punjab Kings by 10 runs while chasing the target of 220. After losing yet another match, Dravid feels that the 2025 season has been one of those where they remained short of 10 to 20 runs in every game.
Dravid said: “It’s been a tough one. We’ve got close, but we haven’t been able to finish the job. It’s been one of those kind of seasons where you always feel with the ball that we probably give 15-20 runs extra and then you’ve got yourself in some really good positions to win the games, but we haven’t been able to finish the job and a little bit around that lower, lower-middle order we just haven’t been able to click and get the big shots that we need.”
From constant injuries to captain Sanju Samson to overall failing to find the right balance, RR have seen something going wrong in most of their games this season.
