Erin Blanchfield sees Zhang Weili not being able to do anything productive at 125. She even sees Weili not being a top-five contender.
Erin Blanchfield had a massive win over Maycee Barber at UFC Vegas 107. It has put her at the top to face the champion, Valentina Shevchenko. But Weili’s move to 125 will give him the first chance ahead of anybody. As a result, Blanchfield would have to wait for her title shot.
Zhang Weili is the UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion. This gives her power to go straight into the world title fight if she decides to jump ahead in the weight class.
Blanchfield said: “I think she could win some fights at flyweight, because she is very good. But I don’t see her being a champ. I don’t really see her even being top five at 125.”
Either way, Blanchfield or Weili will be a task for UFC legend Shevchenko to surpass. Blanchfield’s world title shot now depends on Weili’s move and what she decides to do next.
