The Punjab Kings won the most essential game of the season, beating the Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Suryakumar Yadav clicked well with 57 off 39 balls, but it was not a complete performance by the Mumbai Indians.
Taking two wickets each, Arshdeep Singh, Marco Jansen, and Vyshak Vijay Kumar broke the batting lineup of MI.
As a result, Punjab got a target of 185. Josh Inglis presented fire with the bat, adding 73 in 42 balls.
Even Priyansh Arya scored 62 crucial runs alongside captain Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten 26 runs in 16 deliveries.
It took Punjab just 18.3 overs to win the game. Now they have topped the IPL points table with 19 points in 14 games, pushing the Gujarat Titans to the second spot with 18 points.
GT need the Lucknow Super Giants to beat the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 27 and advance to the playoffs with the second finish in the points table.
For RCB, the road is straightforward. Win the game and finish as one of the top two teams.
