The Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed the return of the Indian Premier League on the 17th of May after the regular season stopped on the 9th due to the India versus Pakistan conflict.
The opening match will be between hosts Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders on May 17.
However, as both nations have agreed to the ceasefire, the BCCI has taken massive steps to finish the remainder of the IPL season by June 3.
Earlier, the IPL 2025 final planned to take place on the 25th of May. The regular season before the playoffs will played in six venues/cities; Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Lucknow and Ahmedabad, with two double headers.
However, the venues for the playoffs and the final will decided soon.
The BCCI said: “The BCCI takes this opportunity to once again salute the bravery and resilience of India’s armed forces, whose efforts have enabled the safe return of cricket. The Board reaffirms its commitment to national interest while ensuring the successful completion of the league.”
For the first time since 2008, the IPL 2025 has stopped midway due to geopolitical issues. However, the return of the mega T20 event has boosted the dose of positivity in the country.
