Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene does not feel any problem in using Rohit Sharma as an impact player.
As India’s ODI and Test captain is in amazing form, many MI fans did not like the option of using Rohit as an impact player. Because they want him to contribute like a regular XI player.
The Sri Lanka cricket team legend said that Rohit nursing a niggle since ICC Champions Throphy is the key reason behind not over pressuring him.
“Rohit was on the field in some of the games. But if you look at the composition of the team, most of the guys are doing dual roles. Most of them are bowling. So all that also comes into play. And Rohit was also nursing a niggle from the Champions Trophy, so we wanted to make sure that we don’t push him too hard,” Jayawardene said.
Rohit Sharma is the key reason behind the Mumbai Indians holding third spot in the IPL table, with 14 points in 11 outings.
Rohit has scored 293 runs in 10 IPL 2025 games. It includes three match-winning half-centuries.
The five-tie IPL winners are hours away from facing the Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium. It is an ever-crucial game for the play-off race for both MI and fourth-placed GT.
