The five-match Test series between England and India starts on June 20, is being named as the Tendulkar–Anderson Trophy.
It replaced the Pataudi Trophy title. The decision has created a lot of opinions in the cricket world, with some experts feeling that changing the name was not good.
Kapil Dev, who made India win the 1983 Cricket World Cup, had his say on this hot topic.
He said (PTI): “It feels a little strange… like, does this also happen? But that’s okay, everything works in cricket.”
Cricket legend Kapil felt somewhere that changing the name of the trophy, suddenly, was not ideal.
Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, better known as Tiger Pataudi, was one of India’s best cricketers ever. He played for India in 46 Tests and scored 2,793 runs.
This was the time when cricket was not the primary money-making sport in India.
