For the Delhi Capitals, ahead of a crucial period in the Indian Premier League 2025, Mustafizur Rahman’s refusal to join might be looked at as a major blow.
Delhi approached Rahman as a replacement for Jake Fraser-McGurk, who left the DC squad for some undisclosed reasons.
As the IPL resumes on May 17, with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru facing Kolkata Knight Riders at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Mustafizur somewhere or the other refusing to join DC makes a huge impact.
Not to forget that the IPL 2025 was stopped due to tensions between India and Pakistan last week. Mustafizur, who is a well-known fast bowler, has not received a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
He is a part of Bangladesh’s trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to face them (UAE) in a two-match T20I series on May 17 and 19.
Bangladesh’s Rishad Hossain and Nahid Rana were playing in the Pakistan Super Legaue, but they have also come back for the upcoming T20I series.
Cricbuzz was told by an unknown Bangladesh Cricket Board official: “We are not saying that we won’t let Mustafizur play in the IPL for the Delhi Capitals, but at the same time, there is a thing called national commitment and he needs to fulfil that.”
The words coming from the BCB mean that Delhi should look for another overseas player to replace the Australian international.
