Diogo Jota passed away in a car accident on Thursday at the young age of 28. Jota is a name football fans all over the world are familiar with.
He made a move to Liverpool in 2020 from Wolves, becoming a household name. Last season, he played a crucial role in helping the Reds win the Premier League.
Football legend Cristiano Ronaldo played with Jota for Portugal. It left the five-time Ballon d’Or winner in utter shock.
CR7 said: “It doesn’t make sense. Just now we were together in the national team, you had just got married.”
He added: “I know you will always be with them. Rest in Peace, Diogo e Andre. We will miss you.”
Jota made his Portugal senior side debut in 2019, playing for the national side 49 times and scoring 14 goals.
In the PL, he scored 47 goals in just 123 outings. Jota was known for his ability to score goals in difficult moments, with an injury impacted his career as a pro footballer.
