Sophie Devine, who is a famous women’s cricketer from New Zealand, has decided to take retirement from ODIs after the 2025 World Cup.

Last year, Devine helped New Zealand win the Women’s T20 World Cup. She took over the captaincy role in 2020.

Early in 2025, she made a major decision to take a break from cricket and work on her mental health. She will continue playing T20Is.

Devine has played 152 WODIs for her nation and scored 3,990 runs.

She said: “It feels like the right time for me to start stepping away.”

Devine has taken 107 wickets in ODIs too, directing her all-around approach as a cricketer. She is being known as one of the fitnest women’s cricketers ever.
