Virat Kohli 84 runs in 98 balls led India to reach the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The megastar of Indian cricket did make two crucial partnerships with Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel before losing his wicket to Adam Zampa.
Despite Kohli leading India well, getting out without finishing the game led KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya to make a partnership and set the winning stage in the end.
KL Rahul remained not out in Tuesday’s contest, scoring 42* in 32 balls.
After chasing the hard 265 target against Australia in the semis, Kohli was criticised for getting out early.
He said: “The time that I got out, the plan was to get 20 more and try and finish it off in a couple of overs. Usually, that’s the template I follow but sometimes you can’t execute things how you want to. It’s all dependant on the conditions, the pitch tells me how the cricket needs to be played and then I just switch on and play accordingly.”
Losing the wickets in the 80s did stop Virat from another Test century.
India, in the end, won the game by four wickets in 48.1 overs at the Dubai International Stadium.
India will next face the winner of New Zealand vs South Africa this Sunday.
