The 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup final will be hosted at Lord’s on 5 July (Sunday). It will be an event played between 12 teams across different venues such as The Oval, the Hampshire Bowl, County Ground (Bristol), Edgbaston, Headingley and Old Trafford, other than the iconic Lord’s.
The overall schedule of the tournament is yet to be made public; however, the event’s opener will be played on 12 June (Friday).
England and Wales have hosting rights. Hence, it is a surprise that no game will happen in Cardiff. In 2017, England hosted the 50-over women’s World Cup. Back then, England won the tournament.
Jay Shah; International Cricket Council chair, said: “The sell-out Women’s Cricket World Cup final at Lord’s in 2017 remains a landmark in the rise of the women’s game, and I cannot think of a more fitting stage for the final.”
Richard Gould, holding the position of England and Wales Cricket Board chief executive, said: “We want this competition to be part of a long-term movement, and not just a single moment in time.”
The 2026 edition will be the first to feature 12 teams. In the previous five Women’s T20 World Cups, 10 teams were allowed to battle at an event.
There are still four qualification spots left. England, being the host, get the automatic qualification. Meanwhile, India, New Zealand, Australia, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Pakistan, and the West Indies have already qualified for the tournament.
