India cricket legend and commentator Sunil Gavaskar feels it is better not to play songs and restrict cheerleaders after the Indian Premier League resumes on May 17.

As the tension between India and Pakistan rose last week, the IPL season was stopped last week. However the BCCI then made a statement on Monday about the return of the IPL on May 17.

Gavaskar’s view is to pay respect to the victims of Pahalgam by keeping things simpler.

Gavaskar told Sports Today: “I hope there’s no music and no girls dancing when the IPL resumes. Some families have lost their near and dear ones, let the games be played, let the crowd come in, but just cricket. No dance, no DJ”.

Instead of the 25th of May, the final will now take place on June 3. However, the venue for the final is not been announced by the BCCI.

In 2008, the IPL was started. And for the first time, the political reasons stopped the season for a while. It is being seen as a massive boost for India, as in Pakistan, the PSL’s chances to return look hard this season.

There is even chance that the 2025 PSL season could be stopped midway, with reports are suggesting that oversees players are not feeling safe.
