The Punjab Kings chased the target of 204 runs in 19 overs, outsmarting the Mumbai Indians in the final by five wickets.
Suryakumar Yadav and Suryakumar Yadav added 44 runs each, helping Mumbai add 203 runs at the cost of six wickets in 20 overs.
Jonny Bairstow also contributed 38 runs to put pressure on Punjab.
But when it mattered the most, Shreyas Iyer scored 87 runs unbeaten in 41 balls and made sure that Punjab reached the final.
The PBKS captain got the support from Nehal Wadhera’s 48 runs and Josh Inglis’ 38 runs to make a solid impact.
Iyer, in 2024, led the Kolkata Knight Riders to win the IPL title. And a year later, he has given Punjab a fair chance of winning their first-ever title.
Now the final will take place between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday (3 June).
In Qualifier 1 last week, RCB outdid PBKS by eight wickets. Neither side has won even one IPL title. It means a new champion will be crowned on Tuesday.
