The Sunrisers Hyderabad, who are eighth in the Indian Premier Legaue, have taken two crucial points away from the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Ekana Cricket Stadium B Ground on May 23.
The home side won the game by 42 runs. Ishan Kishan, who has seen several ups and downs in the IPL 2025, scored an unbeaten 94 runs in 48 balls and directed SRH to put 231/6 in 20 overs on the board.
As Kishan played a massive 94-run knock, Abhishek Sharma’s 34 and Aniket Verma’s 26 runs became productive.
None of the RCB bowlers worked well. However, in contrast, Pat Cummins’ three wickets and Eshan Malinga’s two wickets played a massive role in making RCB score 189/19 in 19.5 overs.
Phil Salt’s 62 runs and Virat Kohli’s 43 gave the base. The middle and lower orders did not work well. If the Punjab Kings win their last two games before the playoffs and the Gujarat Titans get a victory in their final regular-season match, RCB’s chances of a top-two finish will not come true.
It is because RCB are third with 17 points in 13 games. Even second-placed Punjab have 17 points, but in 12 games. Leaders GT hold 18 points in 13 matches.
A top-two finish will give them an advantage of having two chances to reach the final instead of finishing third or fourth, and then it is 100 per cent to win the two matches to play the final.
